Blue Ridge Scenic Railway

Take a ride on this train and experience a fun way to explore North Georgia, and admire all the beauty the area offers. The train follows along the Toccoa River. In the spring you’ll get to see all the beautiful blooming flowers, and in the fall you can see all the fall colors as the leaves change in this mountain valley.

Blue Ridge's hiking and waterfalls is a must if you like to hike.


Fall Branch Falls

Is an easy walk off Aska Rd that has an upper and lower level falls. 


Long Creek Falls

Is only about a mile hike and isn’t too strenuous. Let the lids play in the smaller falls along the path along the way. 


Three Forks camping area

Offers primitive campsites along the river that offer some of the best views in the area.


Cabin Rentals

Are scattered all throughout this area and offer some luxury amenities and breathtaking views. 


Mercier Orchards

My personal favorite to bring the kids for the day to pick apples and try the interesting homemade food in their country store. We’ve picked blueberries, strawberries and apples here.


The Blue Ridge Mountains Art Association/Art Center

Features some pretty neat exhibits and events from local and visiting artists that has everything from Carvings, Tapestries, pottery and paintings. 


Lake Blue Ridge

Most of which sits in a serene National Forest. There are several access points for those with a boat and for those that don’t there is an outfitter there for kayak and paddleboard rentals, camping, bathroom and recreational area.


Lilly Pad Village

Enjoy gem mining, mini golf amongst the trees, fishing, and hiking.


Toccoa River Swinging Bridge

Is a fun place to hike. Cross the Camping is first-come-first-serve, but worth the effort to grab a place along the river.


Swan Drive-In Theatre in Blue Ridge

Offers a retro taste of the past with current movies. Literally pull up and enjoy the show from your car. 


Toccoa Riverside Restaurant

Enjoy a meal by the river.


Serenity in the Mountains

Enjoy a massage or stay for a few evenings in this lodge. 


Benton MacKaye Trail

It starts at the same place as the Appalachian trail and stretches 300 miles to the northeast end of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the Cohutta Wilderness


Fannin Brewing Company

A hometown micro-brewery influenced by German style.

Helen

Cool River Tubing

Here you can water tube the Chattahoochee on a one- or two-hour float. They also have two HUGE waterslides. 


Anna Ruby Falls

Is an easy, short climb to a beautiful waterfall. 


Whitley Gap

A short hike through the smokey mountains At the top of the hill you'll come upon an amazing array of rhododendron and spectacular mountain range views.


Raven Cliff Falls

Which is part of the Chattahoochee National Forest and a great place to hike with the kids


Dukes Creek Falls

Which is a short hike to a large roaring waterfall.


DeSoto Falls

Upper and lower falls that are both easy to get to and beautiful.


High Shoals Falls Trail

Is another trail with a double waterfall. twice as long of a hike but well worth the trek. The two falls are called High Shoals Falls and Blue Hole Falls.


Downtown Helen

Is an adventure to its itself. This German-themed Bavarian town in Georgia includes gift shops, candy shops, and dynamite dining. Where you can play put-put, ride mountain coasters and shop.


Troll Tavern

Has a great beer and hamburger selection, and sits right on the Chattahoochee. It's a great place to watch the tubers in summer.

Has incredible authentic German food


Alpine Carriage

The kids will love feeding a carrot to the horse afterward and take a carriage ride through downtown Helen.


Smithgall Woods

Is a Georgia state park offering upscale cabins and Creekside Cottages. There are great trout streams, hiking 


Unicoi

Is another state park that is adjacent to Anna Ruby Falls, with a lake for kayaking or fishing, hiking and more.


Sautee Naccochee

Has windy country roads through the mountain ranges for some breathtaking views and serene landscape. Swim or fish in the river or take in a round a golf or two.

 

Lake Chatuge

Swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and more are always on the agenda at this beautiful mountain lake.

Apple season

The Georgia Apple Festival is another fall time family favorite celebration in the mountains.


BJ Reece Orchards

Is an apple farm in Ellijay that offers apple picking during the weekdays


Fausett Sunflower Farm in Dawsonville

This farm offers 13+ acres of gorgeous flowers for picking or photographs. 


Burt’s Farm

For pumpkin picking, hay rides and lots of fall goodies.


Amicalola Falls

You can walk these falls or drive to the bottom, middle and top. The middle falls parking lot allows for a safe short walk to a footbridge that crosses the falls.


Len Foote Hike Inn

You’ll hike 5 miles into the self-sufficient hiking lodge for a most memorable stay. 


Dawsonville Moonshine Distillery

Come visit here and take a taste testing of some of the oldest moonshine recipies this state offers

Talking Rock Park

The park includes restrooms, covered picnic tables, a playground but the secret is the river. Shallow water and fun rocks with plenty of shade.

Dahlonega 

Springer Mountain

Tough hike but it’s the beginning of the Appalachian Trail. Steep rocky faces make this climb pretty tough.

Is great winery for a family trip.

Is a personal favorite that offers a delicious brunch and mead made with N Ga wildflower honey.

In October, for a weekend full of family fun.

A beautiful place to visit but you can’t get in the water.


George E Coleman, Sr Planetarium

See the stars and planets from this unique observatory.

Blairsville

Helton Creek Falls

Is an amazing family friendly waterfall that is a short walk from the parking lot, and kids can play in the shallow water at the base. 


Vogel State Park

Take a hike, play putt-putt, enjoy a canoe ride on the lake or hike to the falls or rent a cabin for the night.


Blood Mountain

Is a challenging but rewarding hike along the Appalachian Trail. One of the highest points in GA with fantastic views at the peak.


Track Rock Gap

You can see rock carvings in the soapstone. They tell a story told by Cherokee Indians over 1,000 years ago.


Brasstown Bald

The highest point in GA. You can take a shuttle or walk the very steep 10-mile hike to the top.

Rabun County

Black Rock Mountain State Park

Is the highest state park in Georgia. 


Minnehaha Falls

Short hike and the falls are ideal for play.


Tallulah Gorge State Park Hike

The short rim trails which are great for beginners. Or check out the swinging bridge that spans the gorge or the bottom of the gorge for more intermediate excursions.


Denton Branch Falls

A bit far off the beaten path and not as popular as some of the other falls this hike is for more intermediate explorers but well worth the challenge. 


Jaemor Farms

For sweet produce treats like peaches, berries, pumpkins and more. This 350 acre family farm has something every season.


Angel Falls and Panther Falls.

You can see these two water falls on the way to Lake Rabun Beach. 


Hemlock Falls

Is a 2 mile hike into Lake Burton countryside and well worth the journey. 


Dillard House Restaurant

Is a world famous restaurant that has been featured many times in national magazines like southern living and HGTV. You can also stay overnight at Dillard House- at the Inn, in a cottage or at a secluded cabin. This hidden gem also has a spa and offers horseback riding.


Tallulah Falls Railroad Museum

The Museum contains a fascinating collection of artifacts and photographs of the history of the railroad, and houses a full-size two-foot gauge locomotive, passenger car, flat car, crane, hand pump car, caboose, and a motorized car.


Toccoa Falls

Breath taking waterfalls behind this tiny North GA college great to see but you cant get in the water. 


Don Carter State Park

Is the state’s newest park with cabins, a beach on Lake Lanier, and plenty of water fun.


Georgia Guidestones

This American Stonehenge was a giant granite structure where there are 10 principles enscripted on the stones as rules to follow to ensure human survival for all future generations in 8 languages and acts as both a giant sundial and tracts the moon cycles.
